After interviewing three contractors during the summer of 2008 I selected D Henriksen Construction to do a major renovation of my 34 year old rancher in Richmond, BC.
I have spent my life in residential and commercial construction and know only too well the horror stories that can unfold when working with incompetent (or worse) renovation companies.
Henriksen came with recommendations from Al Diamond Architects and a few testimonials from his previous customers. After several interviews I was impressed by Dan's humility and straight forward approach.
As we planned to move out during the renovations (which I highly recommend) not only the quality of the work but also timeliness were of utmost importance to us. Although Dan estimated it would take four months or more to do the work, he promised he would do his best to meet our three month goal of moving back in before Christmas.
Dan started in mid September and, although the work expanded to a total renovation and in spite of a few setbacks, he had us back in by December 11, 2008, four days ahead of my original goal!! Only some exterior work was not completed due to weather.
I can not praise Dan's foreman Gerry enough. At all times he cooperated and discussed details with me daily and came up with numerous good suggestions to overcome unforeseen problems. His knowledge, attitude and cooperation are second to none. All work was completed to the highest industry standards, with reasonable costs and my wife and I are most pleased with final result. We have a brand new home.
